Amec Foster Wheeler has announced that it has successfully signed a framework agreement with EDF Energy to provide energy consultancy services.
Headquartered in the UK, Amec Foster Wheeler is one of the leading mining contractors in the world. The company works with international energy, gas and mining companies to maintain their strategic as well as complex assets, and offers full life-cycle services.
The company will be working with EDF Energy’s coal, gas and renewables division to help support its coal plants, gas storage sites and gas-fired power station. The agreement will also see Amec Foster Wheeler working with EDF Energy at its wind farms in the UK.
This framework agreement covers many aspects in which Amec Foster Wheeler will be involved, including operations and maintenance services, technical services, plant modifications and improvements, outage support services, plant and mine decommissioning, and new builds.
Amec Foster Wheeler Vice President for Generation Services Dawn James stated that the company would be using its technical know-how and capabilities to help EDF Energy improve its commercial as well as operational performance across the board. This collaboration will look to ensure reliable and safe operations.
James went on to add that Amec Foster Wheeler has already collaborated with EDF Energy in the field of nuclear energy, and the company will now look to build on the capabilities and services already provided. It intends to become a key partner by offering EDF Energy cost-effective yet high-quality solutions to the challenges that its coal, gas and renewables business may experience.
Amec Foster Wheeler is one of two companies that will be offering technical, strategic and operational support under the framework agreement. The company has also acquired work in three of EDF Energy’s main sites, and work at these sites is in full swing.
