Heerema Hartlepool has won the award for being the fastest growing business in the North East in 2016. The offshore fabrications company was also named the fastest growing large-scale business in the North East. These awards were bestowed on the company during the 2016 Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 Awards.
Based in Hartlepool, the company excels in designing, engineering and manufacturing complicated structures for oil and gas firms operating offshore rigs. It also works in conjunction with several energy companies.
Heerema Hartlepool Contracts Manager Mark Ellis stated that the firm is amazed as well as ecstatic about winning these awards considering how the oil and gas industry has been performing in recent times.
Heerema Hartlepool has been involved in well-known projects in the UK and the North Sea. It has collaborated with the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, the Culzean oil rig and the Great Gabbard wind transformer.
Winning these awards is truly an achievement for Heerema Hartlepool. The oil and gas industry has been facing a downward spiral, with plunging oil prices. Many oil and gas companies are lowering production and/or decommissioning oil platforms that are too expensive to operate. This is a trend that is widely affecting operators in the North Sea.
Oil & Gas UK has estimated that about 120,000 workers will be made redundant in the UK by the end of 2016. It was quick to point out that majority of these jobs will be related to non-oil producing activities. However, many UK oil and gas companies have been cutting rates and downsizing across their platforms, painting a very gloomy picture for oil and gas contractors.
Heerema Hartlepool has overcome these obstacles to grow its business and hence is being lauded for its resiliency and accomplishments.
