Mining contractors in the UK will be interested in the launch of a new survey functionality by Deswick. The mining software solutions company, which has an office in London, has released Deswick Suite 2016.1. The software integrates seamlessly with Leica instruments, and it also comes with in-built survey functions.
Deswick Suite 2016.1 was built on the CAD and plotting engine. It also offers new functionality, which includes in-built stations database, automatic solids creation from as-built tunnels, survey job management and attribution of values varying along polylines. This advanced functionality makes it easy for mining contractors as the software performs dynamic data updates and rapid plot generation.
Deswick’s CAD platform was used by the Independence Group NL when the company started working at the Nova project in Western Australia. The company wanted to set up the best systems for its survey department, and found Deswick’s software the most apt for the job. Independence Group NL worked with the development team from Deswick to enhance its main CAD platform to suit its needs as well as make general surveying processes simpler.
The Deswick Suite 2016.1 allows continuous flow of data in the mining sequence between departments, and also performs the necessary functions that underground mining surveyors require. This improves processing time and maintains the integrity of the data. Both engineers and surveyors can use the data generated by Deswick CAD without the need to communicate with one another. This allows seamless integration of data when it is transferred between the different mining departments.
Deswick has released the new survey functionality and another 141 improvements to the Deswick Suite 2016.1 to make underground mining surveys simpler. It has also released two new tools for underground mining – Deswick Caving, which aids in cave flow modelling, and Deswick UNO, which helps in underground network optimisation.
